Terms of Service

Effective date: May 4, 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the CourseRadar website and services at courseradar.io (the "Service"), operated by CourseRadar ("we", "us", or "our"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Eligibility

  • You must be at least 13 years old (or 16 if you are in the European Economic Area) to use the Service.
  • CourseRadar is designed for current students, recent graduates, and academics. You agree to use it only in connection with authentic academic experiences.
  • If you are signing in with an institutional Google or Microsoft account, your institution's acceptable-use policies also apply.

2. Accounts

  • You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. Do not share your password or session tokens.
  • You may connect one or more OAuth providers (Google, GitHub, Microsoft) to your account for authentication purposes.
  • You must provide accurate information when registering. You may not create an account on behalf of another person without their permission.
  • We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

3. User Content & Reviews

  • Authenticity — you may only submit reviews for courses you have personally taken or are currently enrolled in. Do not submit reviews for courses you have not experienced.
  • Honesty — reviews must reflect your genuine opinion. Paid, incentivized, or coordinated reviews are prohibited.
  • Respect — reviews must not contain hate speech, personal attacks, harassment, doxxing, or content targeting individuals based on race, gender, religion, or other protected characteristics.
  • No private information — do not include personally identifiable information about instructors, students, or staff beyond what is publicly available.
  • By submitting content you grant CourseRadar a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive license to display, distribute, and aggregate that content as part of the Service.
  • We may remove content that violates these Terms at our sole discretion, without notice.

4. Prohibited Conduct

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to accounts, systems, or networks associated with the Service.
  • Scrape, crawl, or harvest data from the Service without our prior written consent.
  • Upload malware, spam, or any content that disrupts the Service.
  • Impersonate any person or entity, or misrepresent your affiliation with any person or entity.
  • Use the Service in a manner that could damage, disable, or impair its infrastructure.

5. Intellectual Property

The Service, including its design, code, and non-user-generated content, is owned by CourseRadar and protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from any part of the Service without our express written permission. User-submitted reviews remain your property, subject to the license granted in Section 3.

6. Subscriptions & Payments

  • Some features require a paid subscription. Subscription fees are billed in advance on the billing cycle shown at checkout.
  • Payments are processed by Stripe. By subscribing, you agree to Stripe's Services Agreement.
  • You may cancel your subscription at any time via your account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; no refunds are issued for unused portions unless required by applicable law.

7. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any information on the Service is accurate, complete, or current. Course reviews represent the personal opinions of individual users, not CourseRadar.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, CourseRadar shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of or inability to use the Service. Our total liability for any claim arising from these Terms shall not exceed the greater of (a) $100 USD or (b) the amount you paid to CourseRadar in the 12 months preceding the claim.

9. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless CourseRadar, its affiliates, officers, and employees from any claims, damages, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from (a) your use of the Service, (b) your User Content, or (c) your violation of these Terms.

10. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time for any reason, including violation of these Terms, with or without notice. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. Sections 3 (license grant), 5, 7, 8, 9, and 11 survive termination.

11. Governing Law & Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law provisions. Any dispute arising under these Terms shall be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Delaware, and you consent to personal jurisdiction there.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated Terms on this page with a new effective date and, where appropriate, by email. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
